Clean Power PA Coalition Deputy Director
Viewpoint Public Affairs seeks a full-time Deputy Director to help lead the Clean Power PA Coalition in advocating for ambitious, equitable clean energy policies in Pennsylvania and to fight back against Big Oil and Gas.
The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to foster coordination and cooperation amongst a diverse set of grassroots and advocacy organizations. They will be committed to getting results in a fast-paced environment. The Deputy will work closely with the PA State Director to provide strategic and grant support to a growing coalition of climate, faith, and environmental justice advocates to bring equitable climate policies to Pennsylvania. This position is an excellent opportunity to be at the forefront of climate policy across the energy, transportation, and buildings sectors.
Job Responsibilities:
Support the development and implementation of state clean energy and climate policy objectives.
Provide project management, tracking and reporting, and research support for campaigns.
Work with the State Director to deploy resources to organizations, including grantmaking and coordination with communications and government relations teams.
The Deputy State Director will facilitate meetings, materials, and logistics for convening grantees and consultants to ensure a cohesive effort to pursue and achieve shared goals, strategies, and targets.
Monitor public releases and announcements from all relevant federal and state government offices and agencies.
Work with the State Director and Steering Committee to develop and utilize impact measurement tools and capacity-building initiatives.
Support relationships with grantee partners including fostering a collaborative approach around shared goals and strategies.
Support Government Relations lead by monitoring state legislature activity and coordinating government relations tactics.
Proactively manage work product and project portfolio, provide ongoing reports, and maintain a solutions-oriented approach to daily and weekly priorities.
Diligently follow current events and news related to state clean energy and climate policy priorities.
Qualifications:
We’re seeking candidates who excel in relationship building, are results-oriented and have strong project management skills. While there is not a minimum years criteria, this position is an intermediate to advanced management-level position. You should have:
A track record of developing and maintaining authentic working relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.
Experience managing multiple projects and the ability to oversee a team of consultants, grantees, and advocates.
Demonstrated aptitude for managing staff, projects, or budgets.
Strong dedication to equity and putting those most impacted by the climate crisis at the center of policy development.
Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Ability to flex communication style to multiple cultural environments.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to present to diverse audiences, specifically racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse communities.
Familiarity with Pennsylvania’s government, legislative, and political environment.
Prior experience in issue advocacy, political campaigns, grassroots organizing, or government is preferred.

Compensation:
The Deputy Director is a 1099 consultant with Viewpoint Public Affairs and shall be compensated at a rate of $75,000 annually plus a health insurance stipend. The average commitment is 30-35 hours/week. Remote work with some travel within PA.
